Details below:

  • TAP DANCE (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

Tap is a dance form that awakens the rhythm within our body and lets us express that rhythm through movement. It is an old dance form influenced by African and Irish movements and rhythms. Our class is based on nationally recognized dance syllabus and movements are modified to ensure safe participation by all.

The class will start with a warm up at the Barre to prepare for more complex movement on the dance floor.Traditional dance moves then are combined with presentation. Voila, we end up having a dance worthy of performing on stage! As well as being a good work out, we are also using memory, coordination and balance while learning some of the history and origins of Tap dance.

NOTE: You are welcome to participate: tap shoes are needed and we recommend wearing exercise clothes. This class is Advanced. (Beginner and Advanced classes are offered at our Centre.)

  • BALLET FOR SENIORS (12:15 PM - 1:15 PM)

Ballet has been around for hundreds of years and has many forms. This class is based on nationally recognized dance syllabus, and all movements have been modified so that students can work at their own level.

The warm up at the Barre prepares for the dance steps that can be shown in the center. Terminology and correct technique will be explained in each class. Ballet is good for building body strength, posture, poise , stamina , balance, control and co ordination ,and, we look good too.

NOTE: You are welcome to participate in this class: Ballet shoes and exercise clothing are recommended. This class is for more experience dancers, however, newcomers are welcome. (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes are offered at our Centre.)

  • ENERGIZING DANCE (2:00 PM- 3:00 PM) - A chance to let your spirits soar and to 'dance like there is no one watching!'

Warm up lets our imagination flow then, with leadership, we build to more formal and free style movements. All levels of ability are encouraged to 'go with the flow and express how the music makes you feel. A different style of music is used each week and we also use stage props such as Top Hats and Canes, tambourines and more. The idea is to shed our inhibitions and 'move', work at your own level, forget your worries and have fun. A very good work out using the whole body while having fun.

NOTE: You are welcome to participate in this class. Soft soled shoes / runners and exercise clothing are recommended.
