PresidentMARLENE MONILAWSMarlene is a native Calgarian and long-standing member of Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre. She previously served as President of our Centre from 2020 - 2022 and was re-elected in 2024. Through her career, Marlene worked at three different companies in Accounts Payable and Payroll Departments, and has volunteered on three boards; her church board, Jaycees, and Square Dancing. Marlene's hobbies are cribbage, handicrafts and Square Dancing. A very welcoming and approachable presence at the Centre, you'll find Marlene at most events as well as the Crib and Sharing Handicrafts clubs. | Vice PresidentLYNDA LYSTERLynda dedicated 27 years to a career with the Calgary Board of Education. As a teacher, principal, and Director of Educational Services, Lynda valued building relationships and worked to upgrade public school libraries. Since leaving the CBE in 2006, Lynda has been the Chair of the Marigold Library System, a cooperative network of libraries. In addition, she was Chair of Making Changes and the program, The Walk In Closet, a service that provided women in need with clothing suitable for going into the workforce. Lynda’s belief in the power of education has extended into Mexico where she has been instrumental in fundraising for schools in the small town of Barron near Mazatlan. | TreasurerNEIL LITTLEBorn and educated in Manitoba, Neil has lived and worked in Alberta ever since. He has worked for many years in senior management roles in both for-profit and non-profit sectors in the construction engineering industry. Not only is Neil on the Board of Directors at Confederation Park, he is also a Board member of two other organizations, which complement his passion for golf and mentoring students in pursuit of their post secondary education. Neil believes in the motto, “Service Above Self,” and looks forward to assisting The Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre Board and staff in working with members, the Community, and the various levels of Government to fulfil our Mission. In addition to Neil’s formal business and accounting education, supplementary learning has been in the areas of leadership, Board Governance and risk management. |

DirectorROBERT LAMRetired educator, and technology architect, speaker, author. Father, dedicated volunteer, a fan of hiking in nature and advocate of lifelong learning. Robert has acted as a fiduciary for various non-profit organizations, ensuring stakeholder interests and company assets are protected, and overseeing key areas such as strategy, risk management, and capital allocation. Robert has served on the Springbank Development Advisory Committee and the Health and Safety Advisory Committee at SAIT Polytechnic. As former board president and chair of the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology, he led the transformation of the organization, fostering community building and technology awareness. Robert has also been involved with the Alberta ICT Council and served as a Trustee of High River Public Library. Before his retirement, he worked as a technology architect at Pan Canadian and later as an instructor at SAIT Polytechnic. In 2023, Robert joined The Centre board. | DirectorLIONNETTE WILLIAMSLionnette is a retired school librarian. Her love of being with people enticed her to many hours of volunteering over the years. She thoroughly enjoyed raising her 4 children and treasures being a grandmother to her 10 grand children. Lionnette also enjoys reading, walking and spending time with family and friends. This centre is also a favourite spot for her to 'hang out' with good people and activities, and was a member of our choir, Harmony First. You'll find Lionnette playing Euchre or at our various events. |
