At Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre, food brings people together. From hot lunches and morning coffee to weekly gatherings, our programs nourish both body and soul. Enjoy delicious, affordable meals and warm conversation in a welcoming space for active adults.

Free Pantry Project

Our Pantry Program supports members during difficult economic times by providing free non-perishable food hampers. With rising grocery and transportation costs, this program ensures access to essential items while treating every participant with dignity and respect. We aim to provide nutritious foods for meals, helping participants use their savings for other needs or a few small “wants.”

Qualifications

  • No financial qualifications are required to access the Pantry.
  • Participants must be 55 years of age or older with low income.
  • A copy of your 2024 tax assessment is required for verification.
  • Each participant completes a short survey and receives a free Associate Membership for low-income individuals.
All information remains confidential.

Depending on donations, items may include pasta, pasta sauces, canned fruits and vegetables, beans, soups, canned fish or meat, oils, dry goods, cereal, snacks (such as granola bars), and occasionally toiletries or small pet treats.

All pantry hampers must be ordered through the office at 403-289-4780. Orders must be placed by Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. to allow time for volunteers to prepare them.

Pantry pick-up is Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre Office (2244 Chicoutimi Dr NW, Calgary). Please arrive on time.

If you’d like to donate, please ensure food items are not expired and packaged for one or two people. Cash donations are also appreciated.

Bring donations to the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m, or to Tea & Conversation on Thursdays, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
