Acrylic Art Class

Course Overview:
This series invites participants to explore acrylic painting through fun, engaging weekly projects. Each class introduces a different theme, style, or technique that you will finish a new painting every session to take home. Whether you are experienced or just curious, this course is designed to build confidence, spark creativity and bring joy to your Fridays!
All references will be based on painted images and handouts(no physical still live objects needed). Materials are provided

Week-by-Week Projects:
Sept 19 - Color Play & Fruit Explorations

• Explore brushstrokes, layering and bold color mixing
• Focuses on rounded forms and textures inspired by fruit (apples, pears, citrus, grapes, etc.)
• Use real fruit, still life setups, or photo references
• Emphasize playful mark-making and bold contrasts
  Project: colorful fruit still live or abstract fruit composition on canvas

Oct 10 - Fall Landscape with a twist

• Capture the season's colors in a stylized landscape
• Use printed references of autumn scenes for inspiration
• Try a palette knife or dry brush to add texture
  Project: Autumn landscape on canvas board

Oct 17 - Inspired by the Masters: Van Goh's Vase

• Look at floral or still-life prints from Van Gogh and similar artists
• Reinterpret in your own color palette and brushstroke style
• Learn expressive layering and impasto-style application
  Project: Painterly still life (flowers or objects) in post-impressionist style

Oct 31 - Halloween Inspired Art

• Lighthearted Halloween theme: pumpkins, autumn leaves and scenes
• Explore silhouettes, bold outlines and complementary color contrast
• Add glow using white, yellow and ochre paint for magical highlights
  Project: Halloween-theme mini canvas featuring pumpkins or autumn scenes

Nov 7 - Dreamy Skies & Light

• Focus on atmospheric sky references: sunsets, clouds, twilight
• Learn blending techniques with brushes and sponges
• Practice soft gradients and emotional color palettes
  Project: Skyscape painting on stretched canvas

Nov 14 - Light & Shadows: Everyday Magic

• Learn how light and shadow add depth and mood. Use references like chairs by the window, glowing lamps, or simple objects casting shadows.
• Explore how light affects mood, using shadows for volume
• Use painted image references for inspiration (feel free to bring yours)
  Project: Moody interior or objects study with dramatic shadows

Nov 21 - Cozy Corners: Interior Space

• Paint a cozy indoor scene: teacup by the window, books, plants
• Focus on storytelling through objects
• Learn about perspective and layering flat space
  Project: Interior scene acrylic painting

Nov 28 - Holiday Warmth: Cards or keepsake Canvases

• Create a winter-themed or festive piece
• Option to design holiday cards or paint on a small canvas for gifting
• Explore patterns, simple shapes and a limited winter palette
  Project: Holiday card or keepsake canvas to take home or gift
