Mixed Media Materials
The raven pictured below is the first of three projects. depending on time in the classroom. Check the materials below feel free to bring some items from home to add to your project.
Surfaces: Thin Canvas, anything can be covered as long as you prime it (Gesso) if needed.
Papers: Newsprint, scrapbooking paper, tissue paper, tea bags, fancy napkins, old books, old sheet music, magazines, sewing patterns, maps, wallpaper….anything with a print or pattern on it.
Mediums: Acrylic Paint, Watercolour Paint, Oil and Soft Pastels, Pencil Crayons, Felt Markers, charcoal, ink pens….anything that will create a mark.
Stamping: Stencils, saran wrap, tin foil, bubble wrap, rubber stamps or scrapbooking stamps, canning lids, rubber balls, bottle and milk caps…Anything that can pick up paint and make a stamp or mark.
Textures: Gesso, yarn, eggshells (Washed and Dried), masking tape, thread, cheese cloth, toothpicks, steel wool, tinfoil, salt, beads, fabric, burlap…anything tactile.
Applications:Brushes, old credit cards (Starbucks cards), fingers, sponges, spatulas, stamps…anything you can apply a wet medium on to and paint with.
Organic Items: eggshells, leaves, branches, moss, rocks, wheat, dried flower roots, wood, dried flowers….
