    Pre-requisite: An Introductory Class
    Instructor: Barry Luft
    This course will include a review of basic chords in the main ukulele keys and useful strumming patterns to accompany singing. Other topics will include: 1) Finger Picking for song accompaniment, 2) Playing by Ear, 3) The Nashville Numbering System, 4) The Calypso Rhythm, and 5) Other topics based on the whims of the instructor - too fierce to mention in print! Alumni are always welcome to register.

Note: Instruction is for the small size ukulele – soprano, concert or tenor.

Prerequisite required: an introductory course or equivalent

Instructor Barry Luft has decades of playing and teaching of acoustic instruments.

What equipment is required by the student to bring to class?

A ukulele – soprano, concert or tenor, electronic tuner, loose-leaf 3-ring binder, pen or pencil.


What equipment will the instructor provide the students?

Photocopied handouts. A recorded CD of songs and techniques for students for “listening and learning.”


What level of competency should the student be at to attend this course?

A prerequisite is required – an introductory course or equivalent (a simple strum and a handful of cords).


Is this course available for drop-ins?  No.
