Registration

  • This class is geared for those with little or no experience on the instrument. You will learn to accompany many familiar songs using chords and rhythm strums plus have fun singing while playing. You will be playing on the first day! If you have a ukulele, bring it to class in good working order along with an electronic clip-on tuner. Don’t have a Uke? Call Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre at 403 289-4780 for purchasing information.

Note: Instruction is for the small size ukulele – soprano, concert or tenor.

Prerequisite required: an introductory course or equivalent

Instructor Barry Luft has decades of playing and teaching of acoustic instruments.

Course description:

This ukulele class will be a direct follow up from the introductory level course and will include a healthy review of basics and lots of strumming and singing.  New keys, chords, and strums will be explored in order to add colour to your playing. Alumni are always welcome to register in order to brush us their skills and keep their playing going.   Prerequisite: an introductory course or equivalent

What equipment is required by the student to bring to class?

A ukulele – soprano, concert or tenor, electronic tuner, loose-leaf 3-ring binder, pen or pencil.

What equipment will the instructor provide the students?

Photocopied handouts. A recorded CD of songs and techniques for students for “listening and learning.”

What level of competency should the student be at to attend this course?

A prerequisite is required – an introductory course or equivalent (a simple strum and a handful of cords).

Is this course available for drop-ins?

No.
